PROJECT DETAILS
Project Background
We envision a safe and secure learning environment for Ololosokwan Primary School. By fencing the school grounds, we aim to achieve multiple benefits:
- Enhanced Security: A fenced perimeter will create a clear boundary, providing a sense of security for students, and resident teachers.
- Improved Hygiene: Fencing will help control external foot traffic, making it easier to maintain a clean and healthy learning environment.
- Reduced Disease Risk: Limiting livestock access to the school will prevent the spread of diseases to students and the surrounding wildlife.
- Positive Learning Atmosphere: A secure and clean environment contributes to a more focused and productive learning experience
- Protected Investment: Fencing will safeguard the school infrastructure and resources from potential damage or loss.
The challenges faced due to a lack of perimeter fencing include:
- Livestock intrusion: Wandering cattle and livestock pose a risk of disease transmission to students and teachers.
- Uncontrolled access: One of the main water sources for the community is located on school grounds, which has lead to frequent foot traffic, hindering cleanliness and potentially disrupting classes.
- Litter and debris: Uncontrolled access allows litter to blow onto the school grounds, making it difficult to maintain a clean environment.
Scope of Works
This renovation, overseen by a dedicated Project Manager on the ground in Tanzania, will include two key components:
- Extending the Water System: As a key water source is located within the school grounds, we will need to extend the water source to outside the fenced perimeter, ensuring continued access for villagers while minimizing disruption to the school environment.
- Fencing the School Grounds: We will install a secure fence around the school property, creating a controlled and safe learning space.
Looking ahead
Once the school is fenced, we look forward to developing the school grounds further. Planting edible gardens will provide a source of fresh produce for the school community, enhance the aesthetics of the environment, and serve as a valuable educational tool for students and teachers. This project will foster a sense of well-being and responsibility for the school, promoting a positive learning experience for all.
By working together, we can create a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for the students and staff of Ololosokwan Primary School.
