Laine grew up with a curiosity for the world around her. Her childhood, marked by frequent moves and family vacations abroad, ignited a lifelong passion for exploring the world. After college, Laine’s desire to make a positive impact led her to work with nonprofits, marketing agencies, and community relations programs. Her studies in communications, business, management, and medical humanities at Boston College further equipped her for this work.

Today, Laine leads Explore With Purpose, with a vision for expanding its reach across Africa, she is dedicated to making a lasting difference in communities worldwide

ROB STRUGILL

Vice President / Advisory

Rob Sturgill, a native of Twin Falls, Idaho, developed a deep affection for community empowerment during his two-year church mission in the Philippines.

Rob is dedicated to humanitarian efforts, and in 2014mfounded Type of Wood Charities Inc. Rob is also a board member of Rise and Rebuild International Foundation, focused on combating malnutrition in the Philippines. His passion for travel and helping others aligns perfectly with the mission of Explore With Purpose.

CAROLYNE DONALD

Programs Officer

Carol is a dedicated medical professional with a passion and deep commitment to community service, environmental and wildlife conservation and empowerment. Born and raised in Tanzania, Carol has always been drawn to the great outdoors and frequently explores the beauty of the Northern parts of her hometown in Arusha. Carol acts as our in-country programs officer, and with her rich background which blends hospitality and philanthropic work, she is able to join hands with our communities, partners and donors to further grow Explore With Purpose. 

MARY BETH ROANE

Advisory

Mary Beth has served in her community and church in a variety of volunteer positions throughout her life. Her most recent and impactful work includes serving two terms on the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House Upper Midwest and currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Grief Club of Minnesota.

Reflecting on her service, Mary Beth often quotes the phrase, “God blesses you to be a blessing to others.”

TINA OWENS

Advisory

Tina grew up in a rural American farming community, where generosity was a way of life. Her experience volunteering in the Democratic Republic of Congo for six months fostered a deep connection to East Africa and inspired her to dedicate her career to meaningful work.

With over 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Tina continues to pursue her passion alongside her family. As Vice President at Wine To Water and a member of the Explore With Purpose team, she is committed to connecting people with impactful work.

Jim, the owner of Roane Travel Design, is a seasoned traveler with a deep passion for giving back. His cultural anthropology degree, upbringing in various countries and cultures, and travels around the world have instilled in him a commitment to serving the communities he encounters.
