CREATING A HEALTHIER SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

At Explore With Purpose, we believe that every child deserves a safe, healthy environment in which to learn and grow. Mairowa Primary School currently serves approximately 740 students, yet its existing sanitation facilities are not sufficient to meet the needs of the school community. As the student population has grown, so has the need for safe, functional and accessible washroom facilities. We are raising funds to build a new ablution facility with 24 vents, providing much-needed sanitation infrastructure for the children and staff of Mairowa Primary School. This is a practical investment in the everyday health, dignity and well-being of hundreds of children.

CREATING A HEALTHIER SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

At Explore With Purpose, we understand the importance of a safe, comfortable, and sustainable environment for children’s learning and well-being. Students at Ololosokwan Primary School had long been eating their lunches outside during break times, as their cafeteria had become dilapidated and unsafe. To address this, we partnered with local teams to restore the cafeteria, outfitting it with recycled plastic desks and chair, plates and mugs and new kitchen equipment for the chef.

PROJECT DETAILS

Impact Statement

The Mairowa Primary School Washroom Project will provide essential sanitation facilities for approximately 740 students at the school. By improving access to safe and functional washrooms, the project will contribute to a healthier, more dignified and supportive learning environment for the entire school community.

Project Overview

WHO:

The students and staff of Mairowa Primary School, a day school serving approximately 740 children in Northern Tanzania.

WHY:

With hundreds of students attending the school each day, the existing ablution facilities are not adequate to meet the needs of the growing school population. Access to appropriate sanitation is a basic part of creating a healthy and supportive environment for children to learn.

WHAT:

The project will fund the construction of a new ablution facility at Mairowa Primary School, comprising 24 vents to provide additional washroom capacity for the school.

IMPACT:

A new ablution facility will provide students with improved access to essential sanitation during the school day. Beyond the physical infrastructure, the project represents an investment in the health, dignity and well-being of the children of Mairowa.

By helping provide a school environment that meets their basic needs, we can help create better conditions for children to focus on what they are there to do: learn, grow and build their future.
